Who we're looking for.

Applications are open to candidates from all 54 African countries and the diaspora.

  • 01Be between 18 and 40 years old at the time of application.
  • 02Be the founder or co-founder of a startup or social venture actively solving an African problem.
  • 03Have a minimum viable product (MVP) or operating venture with measurable traction.
  • 04Have a capable founding team with relevant domain experience and the depth to execute what's being built.
  • 05Be committed to participating in all fellowship components (online and offline).
  • 06Demonstrate leadership potential, social consciousness and a passion for driving innovation.

Who should apply to the Fixing Africa Fellowship?+

Founders and co-founders between 18 and 40, running a startup or social venture with an MVP or measurable traction that is actively solving an African problem.

How long is the program and how much time does it take?+

12 weeks, hybrid. Expect a mix of live online sessions, mentor clinics and a small number of in-person intensives. Most fellows commit 6 - 8 hours weekly.

Does it cost anything to participate?+

There is no participation fee. Fellows cover their own travel where in-person components apply.

Is the funding guaranteed?+

No. Selected ventures can access up to $10,000 in seed funding based on progress, readiness and outcomes at the end of the fellowship.

Which sectors do you accept?+

The fellowship is industry agnostic. We accept ventures across health, education, agriculture, fintech, climate, creative and technology sectors.

Can I apply from outside Africa?+

Yes. Applications are open to founders from all 54 African countries and to the diaspora, provided the venture serves an African market.
